The dissertation preproposal is an oral
presentation to the student's supervisory committee. The presentation should
include the following:
-
Objective: A clear statement
of what problem is to be solved
-
Background: What others have
done in this area
-
Method: What method you propose
to use to solve this problem
-
Results: What you expect your
results to be when finished
-
Significance: What your unique
contribution to the field will be as a result of this research
-
Publications: Possible papers
and proposals which could result from this research.
The presentation should 'sell' to the supervisory
committee that the student has a clear understanding of each of these topics.
