AUTHOR GUIDELINES/INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROCEEDINGS MANUSCRIPTS

The following standard format has been developed to facilitate the publication of conference papers. Since it is intended to print the proceedings directly from the camera-ready manuscripts submitted by the authors, we request close compliance with the specifications below.

 

  1. LANGUAGE: English.
  2. LENGTH: Papers should not exceed total of six pages with single spacing (including all text, illustrations, charts, etc.). A surcharge of US$43.00 must be included with the registration fee for each additional page exceeding this limit. Regular paper, as specified in the acceptance letter of symposium chair, should not be less than four pages.
  3. PAPER LAYOUT. All manuscripts must be printed in double column format on laser printer, using standard LETTER size (8-1/2" X 11") white plain paper of 20 lb weight or more and printed only on one-side of paper. Pages must be numbered in pencil and the paper code indicated on the back of each page. The paper should include: (a) Title - 2 lines maximum length; (b) author's name, affiliation and present address; (c) abstract - About 200 words; (d) a maximum of six key words; (e) a clearly written introduction to explain the nature of the problem, previous work, purpose and contribution of the paper; and (f) a conclusion section to indicate clearly the advantages, limitations and possible applications (g) a reference section.

Skip a line between the title and author name(s) and two lines between the author affiliation(s) and the text. If the last page fills only one column, please divide the text into two equal columns.

  1. MARGINS: Double column text within top margins of 25mm (1 inch) left, right (1 inch) and bottom margin of 30mm (1.25 inch). The gap between the columns is 0.3 in.

  1. TITLE AND AUTHOR AFFILIATION: The title should be 14-point boldface type in Titlecase and centred over both columns. The author name(s) and affiliation(s) should be 11-point nonboldface type, upper and lower case centered over both columns.

  1. ABSTRACT.Type the abstract in italics in 10 point Times-Roman.

  1. TYPE STYLE/SIZE. Text is to be typed single space in 10-point Times-Roman and in a two-column format with one blank line between paragraphs. Allow 5-space paragraph indentation and an extra half space above a line containing superscripts and below a line containing subscripts.

  1. SUBSECTIONS: Up to two levels of subsection headings is preferred. Subsection headings are to be boldface type in Titlecase (upper and lower case letters not underlined), flush left. First level subsections are to be in 11-point, while the second level subsections are to be in 10-point.

  1. REFERENCES. List and number all bibliographical references at the end of the paper. When referenced within the text, enclose the number in square brackets []. Where appropriate, include editor(s) of a book. The format of the reference list should be as follows:
  2. Papers: author, title, journal, volume number, issue number and year, inclusive pages; for example:

    [1] S. M. Rahman, M.A. Zaman, "Video Over ATM: Research Issues" Proc. Of InterSymp-97, vol. IV, pp. 11-15, 1997.

    Books: author, title journal, volume number, issue number and year, inclusive pages; for example:

    [2] H. Levkowitz, "Color Theory and Modelling for Computer Graphics, Visualization, and Multimedia Applications, Kluwer Academic, Boston, 1997.

  1. GRAPHS AND PHOTOGRAPHS : Illustrations, graphs, and photographs may fit across both columns if necessary, but keep the text in two columns. Your artwork must be in place on the article and their horizontal dimension must not exceed the width of the text All illustrations should be numbered, provided with a legend and referred to in the text. Illustrations should be either black-on-white line drawings, or glossy black-and-white photographs with good contrast. Please try to supply the best quality photographs or illustrations possible. The quality of the book will be only as good as the originals provided.

  1. Use of Tape : Print all type and graphics directly on sheets formatted according to the instructions. Do not affix elements to your pages, unless those elements cannot otherwise be included. Do not place celophane tape over any part of your paper.

  1. Copyright form : Please be sure to include your signed copyright form with your paper. We must have the form in our office before your paper can be published in the proceedings.

  1. In order for a paper to be published in the proceeding, all Registration materials and Fees together with two camera-ready copies (conforming to submission guidelines) of the paper with signed Copyright Transfer form must arrive before 27 May 1999 at:

Paper must be accompanied by payment of the registration fee. Paper will not be included in the proceedings and the conference program, unless full payment of registration fee is received. Just mailing the registration form alone does not constitute registration.

14. Please email or send a diskette containing the electronic version of the camera-ready paper only (not the registration materials) in WORD97 or lower version to the following symposium co-chair by 27 May 1999.
